Dr. Paul Thu

Director

Dr Thu is Burmese and grew up in Yangon, Myanmar but now calls Australia home. He is a practising General Practitioner in Mount Gambier, South Australia who, in addition to his medical degree, holds a graduate diploma in Health Economics.

Since the Myanmar military deposed the democratically-elected government in 2021, he has been an advocate for the interests of the people of Myanmar and the return of democracy to that country. Locally, he works closely with Karen and Karenni communities in Mount Gambier to give assistance and support to refugees and asylum seekers in Myanmar. His other passions include Myanmar ethnics reconciliation, federalism and the rule of law in his country of birth.

Dr Thu joined AMIDHRP in 2022 to expand his work supporting the people of Myanmar.
