Dal Sian Pau Suantak

S. Dal Sian Pau is a Zomi linguist, language researcher and advocate dedicated to the preservation, documentation, standardisation and development of the Zomi language and literature. He holds a BA in Political Science, a Diploma in Tamil and a Master of Arts in Linguistics.

He served as a Language Investigator at the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) from 2006 to 2015 and has held senior leadership positions in several Zomi language and literary organisations, including the Zomi Christian Literature Society, Zomi Literature Society and Zomi Language & Literature Society. He has also contributed to linguistic research through presentations at conferences in Myanmar, Thailand and India.

Dal Sian Pau is the author of Comparative Study of Proto-Zomi (Kuki-Chin) Languages (2014), a significant contribution to comparative linguistic research and the documentation of Zomi and related languages.

He is also one of the translators and linguistic analysts contributing to the Zomi Language Project at the Australia Myanmar Institute for Democracy, Human Rights and Peace (AMIDHRP). In this role, he contributes specialist expertise in translation, linguistic analysis, language review and resource development, helping strengthen the accuracy and scholarly foundations of the project's growing Zomi linguistic resources.

Through his academic scholarship, organisational leadership and contribution to community-led digital language development, Dal Sian Pau continues to play an important role in ensuring that Zomi language and literature are documented, strengthened and preserved for future generations, while developing their capacity to participate in contemporary education, research and digital technologies.
