What is the scenario in Myanmar and neighbouring nations?

More than 200,000 people have been displaced from Myanmar since early February 2021. Thousands also fled across the border into neighbouring Thailand, India, and Malaysia (TIM). The conflict has resulted in deaths, displacement, disruption of vital services such as healthcare and telecommunications networks, shortages of basic services, and in some areas armed forces blocking the flow of humanitarian aid. Women and girls were subjected to sexual violence by soldiers. Children are denied educational opportunities. Many were sentenced to death in absentia by military tribunals.

Through research from our foreign correspondents, we have found that by the end of 2022, there will be 380,000 people in Myanmar in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. Their voices call out to us all saying “As the situation deteriorates, we must immediately replenish our equipment so that we are ready to respond. We really need your help right now. Help us reach out to those in need today.”

Donations will be used to support, contribute and provide humanitarian relief to refugees fleeing violence in Myanmar and to improve the lives of refugees in Thailand, India and Malaysia (TIM), and internal displaced person who are suffering in Myanmar right now. Please donate today to AMIDHRP so we can reach out to more people and further our aid fund objectives.

How can we help the Australia based Myanmar Communities?

The AMIDHRP has developed programs to support the Myanmar diaspora communities in Australia with our first field of operations to be focused on Adelaide and Mt Gambier in South Australia. These local communities often experience difficulties in accessing government services when relocating to a new land. These issues are exacerbated by language and cultural barriers including ethnic divides due to social and cultural issues. Your donations will help the AMIDHRP to set up programs to offer advice and support through our proposed local Help-Hub advice centre and by bringing people together at multicultural events such as Food Fairs and the like.

For further details of the AMIDHRP Programs refer to the “About/Our Work” menus.
