Dr Pau Lian Mang

Co-Head, Department of Translation & Interpreter

Dr. Pau Lian Mang is a distinguished Zomi theologian, educator, author, translator and language scholar with extensive experience in theological education, Christian literature, Bible translation and Zomi language development. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Master of Divinity, and a Doctor of Theology from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where his doctoral dissertation was recognised as the Best D.Theol. Dissertation of the Year. He also participated in the Yale PhD Research Exchange Program.

Dr. Pau Lian Mang has served as a theological educator since 2000 and is a lecturer at Tedim Christian College. He founded Power Literature Ministry and has been involved in Zomi Bible translation since 2018. His publications include Khristian Upna Bulpi, Telic Eschatology: A Quest for Myanmar Theology of Hope, and Zolai Tonggualh (A Descriptive Grammar of Zomi). He has also translated major Christian works, including The Purpose-Driven Life and the New Testament into Zolai, and is currently contributing to the translation of the Old Testament into Zolai in collaboration with the Bible Society of Myanmar.

Dr. Pau Lian Mang is also one of the translators and linguistic analysts for the Zomi Language Project at the Australia Myanmar Institute for Democracy, Human Rights and Peace (AMIDHRP). Drawing on his extensive experience in Zomi translation, grammar, literature and theological scholarship, he contributes specialist linguistic knowledge to the development and analysis of Zomi language resources.

Through his scholarship, teaching, translation and linguistic work, Dr. Pau Lian Mang contributes to the preservation, documentation, development and intergenerational transmission of the Zomi language, helping strengthen its capacity as a language of education, scholarship, literature, culture and contemporary digital communication.
