The Food Ambassador: Ms. Lulu Htet will promote the cuisine and culture of the Burmese (Myanmar people) at the Asia Oasis Street Food Festival in Adelaide, South Australia

Posted on December 14, 2022

Burmese food is very different from other Southeast Asian foods. Bordered by India, Thailand, and China, what makes Burmese food unique is that it is a mixture of Indian, Chinese, and Thai food, as they are not as spicy as Indian and Thai food, nor as stir-fried as you might imagine as Chinese food and as such this makes Burmese food unique in the Southeast Asian region.

Although there are few opportunities to taste Burmese food in South Australia, come and fall in love with a yummy meal with a variety of mouth-watering delicious traditional Burmese foods prepared by Ms. Lulu Htet at the Asia Oasis Street Food Festival from December 16-18, 2022, at 5 pm till late night at Pinky Flat, North Adelaide in South Australia.

"Some part of the profits from the stall will be donated to Myanmar," said Ms. Lulu Htet.

Ms. Lulu is a mother, a director, and an educator, who's teaching the Burmese language to children from different backgrounds and cultural groups. Apart from her native Myanmar, she resided in Singapore for several years prior to arriving in Adelaide, South Australia in 2018.

She is regarded by friends as an unofficial representative of Burmese culture in Adelaide. Her Adelaide home is furnished with Burmese antiques, Burmese Alphabets & Burmese Number bilingual flashcard bundles, Myanmar Storybooks, and Spring Revolution Myanmar Classic T-Shirts. It is also filled with music, family photos, and opportunities for laughter and conversation, and in her hands, Burmese food becomes wonderfully delicious.

Lulu makes noodles with coconut sauce and chicken curry so fine that many of her friends have pestered her for a demonstration of Burmese food to the wider community in Adelaide, South Australia.

Come along to the Asia Oasis Street Food Festival to taste the unique Burmese food prepared by Lulu and support the people of Myanmar by taking home a yummy meal for your breakfast, lunch, or dinner thereby raising funds for the Myanmar community’s fight for democracy in their home country.
